The writing and (lack of) editing here is pretty bad overall, and worst when the author tries to address the technicalities of music or recording technology. There are lots of strained constructions throughout, mis-used and overused words and phrases (he uses phrases like "as an added bonus" by which he obviously means "as a bonus," since a bonus by definition is something added, uses the slang word "druthers" to mean "misgivings," when in fact it means "preference," uses the expression "working on heat" about 20 times for no good reason, refers to something as "original, albeit unique," routinely shoehorns ill-fitting verbs into his sentences in some kind of misguided effort to make the language more varied, or highfalutin, or something... Etc.) All that said, the book seems well-researched and contains many details that will be of interest to those who wish to know more about the great Sir George Martin. As soon as I finished the first part of George Martin’s life, Maximum Volume, I had to read the second part!This book was even better! As a teenage Beatles fan in the 1960’s, I lived & breathed their songs. Thisbook made me a fly on the recording studio wall and what a ride! I had no idea how adept John & Paulwere at songwriting or in the recording studio; or just how important George Martin was in moldingtheir music; or that George Martin traveled with the Beatles to America that fateful February in 1964. I didn’t want this book to end......and I didn’t expect tears when George Martin died!
